The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) aims to ensure protection of cardholder data wherever it is transmitted, processed or stored.


Card Schemes require that acquirers, merchant and service providers are compliant with all PCI DSS requirements coupled in 12 distinct groups aiming to achieve 6 major goals:

  • Build and maintain a secure network
  • Protect cardholder data
  • Maintain a vulnerability management program
  • Implement strong access control measures
  • Regularly monitor and test networks
  • Maintain an information security policy
